About

Patti and John Loach have enjoyed many adventures in their forty-eight years together. Their last seven adventures have been cycling trips, riding recumbent trikes manufactured by a British company, “ICE Trikes“. The trikes were purchased from a bike store in Weymouth, on the south coast of England, and they are put into a storage facility wherever Patti and John end each adventure.

So far, the trikes have carried them:

  • 678 km from Weymouth on the English Channel to Cambridge (Fall 2022)
  • 1064 km from Cambridge through Oxford and Cardiff, to Liverpool and Chester in England and Wales (Spring 2023)
  • 1701 km, by ferry to Ireland then trike to Cork and Killarney, ferry to Brittany, and cycling to Bordeaux in France, (Fall 2023)
  • 1757 km from Bordeaux through the Pyrenees and occasionally on the Caminos in Spain and Portugal, ending in Lisbon (Spring 2024)
  • 1587km from Lisbon to Chartres, France (avoiding the devastating floods in Valencia (Fall 2024)
  • 1238 km from Chartres to Amersfoort, Netherlands (Spring 2025)
  • 1112 km from Amersfoort to St Albans, England (Fall 2025).

Spring 2026 will take Patti and John from St Albans, just north of London, to Edinburgh, passing by the lovely coast of Norfolk, the rolling hills of Lincolonshire, some challenging hills in North Yorkshire, historic towns in Durham, and the beautiful Borderlands.

After that – hmmm – perhaps Edinburgh, Glasgow, south to Cairnryan, and ferry to Belfast, Ireland. There’s a lot of Ireland yet to explore.

Patti and John have posted daily (almost …) descriptions of their travels as blog posts. If you haven’t already done so, they welcome you to subscribe. They don’t bury you with emails. They send out an occasional new post announcement with video, photos, and a short description of what they’ve experienced. Please feel free to unsubscribe whenever you like.
