Spring 2026 is a bit of a doozey. I (John) just arrived in Warsaw to begin a four week adventure. I begin in a couple of days with our engineering / train enthusiast Ben, travelling by Eurorail Pass from Warsaw, through Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and Sweden. We part company in Stockholm.
There our two older sons Will and Rob join me for an overnight ferry from Stockholm to Gdansk, Poland, then by Eurail Pass through Berlin, Prague, and Nuremberg finishing in Cologne, Germany. Will and Rob fly home from Brussels, and I spend a couple of days with our old friend Nick in Bochum, Germany.
Then I travel by train to St Albans, just north of London, where our trikes are stored. I’ll spend two or three days giving them some tender loving care. They’ve covered well over 10,000 kms and deserve new cables, a few tightenings and adjustings, and a thorough cleaning.
Patti meets me in London for a 1,300 km ride up the East side of England (Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Durham) to Edinburgh.
Here is a map of the whole escapade. Ben and I are the red path, Will, Rob and I the blue, the purple is Will and Rob’s short train ride to Brussels, the green is my journey back to London, and the light blue for Patti and I up to Edinburgh.

The late flight from Toronto to Warsaw became three hours later because of a minor technical issue. We finally got away about 3:00 AM, landing here about 4:00 PM. I’m a bit bushed, but managed this short 30 second video from my hotel room window before it got dark. The hotel is in the business area, quite Soviet and brutal. Tomorrow I’ll walk around the old areas of Warsaw and get some good photos.
Thank you all. Be well.
